Sonya Zlatanova
Abstract: Decree of the Council of Ministers № 132 of 30.XII.1963 regulates the conduct of the 12th census of the population and the housing stock in Bulgaria. The purpose of the census is to obtain complete and detailed data on the total population and its distribution by sex, age, ethnic composition, education, occupation, social groups and others as of December 1, 1965.
The census of the population and the housing stock is not carried out by the method of self-census, but through special bodies - enumerators and controllers.
The census of the housing stock in Bulgaria is carried in simultaneously with the general census of the population. Cards D and G are filled out in by all enumerators, and only 360 enumerators (3% of the city enumerators), or on average 12 enumerators per district, fill in card R. The detailed study of the dwellings gives an opportunity to work out a future balance of the housing stock in the country.
The collected population statistics during the census on December 1, 1965 are developed in 121 tables, of which 47 tables on the main demographic and economic characteristics, 28 tables for households and families, 24 tables for fertility, 16 tables for migration and 6 tables for the distribution of settlements according to the number of the population.
The collected information on buildings and housing in the country is developed in 81 tables, of which 23 tables for buildings and 56 tables for housing.
