135 years state statistics in Bulgaria
Bogdan Bogdanov
Abstract: On the occasion of the Anniversary of the Bulgarian statistical institution, the Deputy President of the National Statistical Institute and editor of ‘Statistics’ magazine, Ph.D. Bogdan Bogdanov addressed fellow statisticians and the magazine's readers as the author of ‘135 years state statistics in Bulgaria’. His thoughts are about the past, present and more about the future of the statistical institution in Bulgaria, for its leading role in the modern society. Statistics needs to be more transparent and understandable. It must be freed from the notion of elitism. What is understandable and clear, practical and useful becomes a necessity. Seen in this aspect, the work of statisticians can be measured in terms of dignity, so the prestige of the institution in the public space can grow.
